Garlic Butter Rice

Garlic butter rice is a simple dish where warm rice is tossed in melted butter and sautéed garlic. It turns out fragrant, rich and pairs well with almost any main.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice jasmine or basmati
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • Optional: chopped parsley or green onions and a squeeze of lemon

Method
 

  1. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook until golden and fragrant.
  3. Stir in the rice and toast it for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Pour in water and add salt. Stir once, bring to a boil, then lower heat and cover.
  5. Simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  6. Turn off the heat and let it rest, covered, for 10 minutes.
  7. Fluff with a fork, add the last tablespoon of butter, and garnish if you’d like.
